Meet Princess Leia!

New house, new dog…or something like that!

We expected to wait until after the baby was here and we’d gotten into some sort of rhythm with him to get a dog, but sometimes you and a dog are in the right place at the right time!  We were at a brewery two weeks ago and saw a cute white boxer, just relaxing among all the people and dogs there.  Completely relaxed, especially for what looked to be a puppy.

And her leash said “Adopt me!”

So we did!

As of last Thursday night (AKA two weeks after moving in), we have a new dog…about 2 years old, white, mostly boxer.  And after a few days of figuring out a name (difficult when you try to honor a 3.5 year old who wants to call her Haroo after her favorite song) we’ve landed on Princess Leia.  It’s been just about a year since Artoo passed away (apparently we name many things after Star Wars characters) and it was time.

So, here are some pictures from our first few days with our puppy.  She plays a bit, rests a lot and is adorable.  And likes to workout with me, especially if there are squats involved!

I’m usually trying to fit my cooler bag in my work bag, but this combines the two, plus has some of my magic words…pockets (because I tend to lose things!) and won’t collapse when empty (just a weird peeve of mine).

I might be open to retiring my 21 Day Fix cooler tote for this!

New Toy!

I have never been exactly comfortable on a bicycle…at least one that wasn’t stationary!  I can cycle indoors like a madwoman, but put my wheels on the ground, and I’m so scared. It’s fear, not lack of skills, along with lack of experience that holds me back.

Let’s paint a little 1980s picture…pink bicycle, white basket with plastic flowers, glittery streamers coming out of the handles.  And me.  Letting anyone else ride it because I don’t even have a desire to.  I learned to ride, but just didn’t want to do it much.  Eventually, I wanted to ride a bike and did…about 9 years later  It was someone else’s and I was doing great for a while, until falling into a ton of gravel.  I still have the scars.  And I didn’t ride again for about 15 years.

That brings us to a few years ago.  My husband and I bought mountain bikes.  I was uncomfortable on it.  I had SO MUCH fear, pretty much only because I couldn’t put my feet on the ground while on the seat.  Any time I needed to start or stop, I got scared and would often be so fearful, I’d mess up and fall.  It wasn’t enjoyable for me.

But I wanted to ride.  So a few weeks ago, we got this cutie

which has what’s called flat feet technology so I can put my feet on the ground while my buns stay on the seat! (and it matches my bag, not pictured)

So.  I’ve been busy riding my bike with my family.  I have no pictures because I was riding the bike.  And now I’m buying a pretty white basket for the front.  And learning back routes through my new town so I can do things like run to the store (and put things in my basket to take home).

And all is well!

Which made me almost miss that it’s about September…which means it’s time for a new monthly challenge!  Comment with your email address (or email me!) to be added to the accountability group!

September Total Body

What’s News?

This weekend was Beachbody’s Coach Summit in Nashville, TN.  It was full of workouts, motivation and positivity…and a bunch of announcements that I wanted to pass along!

First, the workouts!  I worked out with Sagi Kalev of Body Beast, danced with Shaun T in his new program Cize, and worked out with 25,000 others on the street!

That's me!

That’s me!

Now…what’s coming, starting with what’s first!

My haul...minus clothes

My haul…minus clothes

* Fixate!  It’s a cookbook that has container counts to use with the 21 Day Fix program.  I read through it and it has some tips in addition to the 101 recipes.  I’m going to make one this week, so stay tuned!

* Shaun T’s new program Cize launched today!  It’s all about dancing.  We worked up a sweat, had a blast and…get this…didn’t look like fools!  Shaun T has a way of breaking it down so you get it, without making it too easy.  Everyone kept up and had fun.  I started this program today and I’m looking forward to using it with things getting a little crazy with the move.

No equipment, and if you purchase the program and have Beachbody on Demand, you can stream it!  So I don’t even need a dvd player.  This makes the challenge pack an awesome value, especially with it discounted right now…Shakeology, 30 days streaming and the full Cize program plus a bonus workout and a prize from me.  Whoa!  The nutrition plan is portion control and includes a weekend guide for when life happens.

* Coming tomorrow!  New Boosts to add to Shakeology! Some days you need more energy, other days you may not be getting enough veggies. You now have the power to customize your shakes to your specific needs. Introducing 3 unique Boosts: Focused Energy Boost, Power Greens Boost, and Digestive Health Boost. I bought the Focused Energy and I do feel a bit more of a boost over my usual Shakeo.

* Launching Wednesday!  Beachbody Performance line of supplements.  It’s a breakthrough addition to the nutrition catalogue. The unique formulas were designed by Harvard-trained scientists and rooted in cutting-edge exercise physiology and performance nutrition research, this premium supplement system offers a way to supercharge your performance—and your results—safely and effectively. The 5 formulas—Energize, Hydrate, Recover, Recharge, and Creatine—can be used alone or easily customized depending on your fitness goals or needs. This all-in-one system has its own unique benefits but can also be used to work together. It’s a totally customizable solution.  I picked up the sampler pack and a full tub of Energize.  I have found that the Energize gives me more pep but gentler than the E&E I’ve been using and loving.

* Now this is HUGE…coming in December, The Master’s Hammer and Chisel program.  If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know that I love Body Beast…lifting heavy, and I love the 21 Day Fix…portion controlled eating with simple short workouts involving both cardio and strength. How do you choose when you love both??  This program combines the two, including Autumn Calabrese and Sagi Kalev! I’m in so much for this! Go here to get info as soon as it’s out!

Along with all of these, a few less tangible announcements.  There have been major improvements in the streaming workouts on Beachbody on Demand, especially with casting from device to a TV, and more are to come!  Workouts not available on DVD, Q&As with trainers, an app for that and much more!  Also coming is an app that I can keep better tabs on you with…accountability anyone??

So, next year’s summit is returning to Nashville 7/28/2016! Who’s coming with me??

The Weekend I Wore Clothes

It’s pretty well known that I exist mostly in workout clothes.  I change them into nicer workout clothes after I shower, but for the most part, I don’t usually get more fancy than street workout wear.

I have lost some weight, so I figured it was time to refresh a little.  But I have no style.  At least not past workout wear!  So I decided to sign up for Stitch Fix…have you heard of this?  They send you clothes to choose from and you can decide to keep them or send some back.  They’ll look at your pinterest, what you fill out on the site, and any other things you tell them (if you have something special coming up, etc.).  It’s $20 for them to “curate” your pics, which can be taken off any items you purchase, and there’s a 20% discount if you purchase all of them.

I got mine just before Mother’s Day weekend with lots of events to go to, including a wedding (not from Stitch Fix).  But what you want to see are the pictures, right?

I ended up keeping all of it.  The black pants were both out of my comfort zone and in it…Skinny pants, but like yoga pants in that they’re stretchy and have no zippers!

Have you tried a service like this?

How much time does it take a day?

I get this question often enough to answer in video, but I decided to do it while on vacation because it did prove a point, and was good timing with the preview of coaching our team has this week!

So, how much of your time do you have to devote to coaching?

Now, if you really want to know how much time day to day (not on vacation) I spend, it varies.  See, I love it.  I let coaching take up whatever time I can give it on a given day.  Some days, it’s an hour, some days several.  It doesn’t feel like work though…it’s fun!  And the freedom to set my own hours and limits is amazing.

Vacationing

This post is brought to you from the plane home! I have a few general and fit tips that I wanted to share.  No time like free in flight wifi right?

First, I have a rule that I always workout on days I fly.  Sometimes that means I wake up crazy early, but it really helps me out!

Next up, is to bring some comfort from home to help you create the illusion of routine.  I know you don’t need another blender and Shakeology picture!  But I also often pack a candle if I’m away for a while, and I bring my microfiber hair towel so I know I can dry my curls.

Little things!

We like to plan enough of our trips to be prepared without having so much planned that we can’t be flexible.  With that, I also research out some options for places to go and things to see so that our flexible time isn’t spent researching.

We looked at gyms, places to eat, things to do, etc all before we went.  Though we ended up using about half these things, they were good to know!

Also, keep plastic baggies in your luggage to reuse each trip.  You never know when you’ll need them! Small thing that’s great to have.

And the number one thing…hydrate! Bring a water bottle and fill it often!

What are your tips for travel?

Just about May!

So you know what time it is!  May Challenge time!

We are working legs this month…our arms are tired from April (just kidding…work those arms in May too!) so let’s get to lower body!

legs challenge, monthly challenge, workout at home

So if you’d like to join us and want some accountability, let me know!  I’d love to have you…

And, with the start of May comes the end of April deals!  Don’t miss out!  I’m also giving prizes through May 1st for anyone who becomes a coach, purchases a Challenge Pack (a program plus Shakeology…including those on April deals!) or Shakeology on home direct!

I have a vacation tips post in the works…not all fitness related tips!  I know, I talk a lot about health and fitness! But this is more about staying on track in life in general while away.  Because it’s about living an overall good life!

Happy Monday!!

P90X3 Results!

I’m still working my way through the individual P90X3 video reviews, but I’m done with the program and have my results ready to share!  If you follow me on Facebook, you’ve seen them already…sorry!

Here are the pics…

Stats – down 10 lbs and 7.7″ and clothes are falling off me.  I didn’t see it in the pics, but others saw the differences…we’re always our worst critic!  I do see changes in my legs and rear, which are rare places to change on me!  I feel good and am more determined than ever on the nutrition front.  I know that I could have had stellar results with this program had I not had a few stints of poor choices.

I was helped towards the end with the 3-Day Refresh (results here), both on the determined eating and weight loss.  I also gained a bit of weight in the middle!  I crept up about 3 lbs without even really noticing!  It’s all the little choices that add up to your results.  If you make good ones, you excel.  Bad ones, you crash!

That’s the premise of a fantastic book – The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy.  I actually got a copy as a prize but have already read it (and own it!).  So I’m giving it away to the next person who joins me as a coach.  I have a new coach training starting next Monday, August 11 to get people started on their best track to success in helping others.  And this book is an added bonus, but is recommended for all!

Great mail day last week! Including the book :)

Great mail day last week! Including the book 🙂

What little choice can you make today to make you better?

I love Saturdays!

Today was a great day.  I got to play with my awesome daughter for most of the day, which is really the standard for a good day.  Add in a workout, and I’m doing well!

Did much happen today? Nope!  We went to swimming lessons, ran some errands, played at home, and went to a playground mostly.  But we had fun!

And heading back down!

Now, this is mostly a fitness blog.  So why am I hitting you with my day?  I ran all about, up and down and up and down things meant for children…children with boundless energy and no fear.  The fun we had today completely made me appreciate my level of fitness and that I can play (and keep up with) my daughter!  I don’t think that this version of me could have…

My Before

I can’t wait for another fun day tomorrow!
